Buying a blow molding machine is a major investment. But before the machine is packed and shipped, there is one step buyers should never overlook: machine acceptance and factory testing.
From our experience at SHANDONG GREAT MACHINERY, seeing a machine run is not enough. Buyers also need to check whether it can produce the required products, whether its main systems operate properly, and whether the machine matches the agreed specifications.
5 Things to Check Before Acceptance
1. Check the Actual Product Samples
Do not focus only on the machine’s appearance. If possible, ask the manufacturer to run a trial using the agreed mold and material.
Check the product’s dimensions, weight, surface quality and wall thickness. For large HDPE water tanks, chemical drums and other hollow products, these details matter more than simply seeing the machine open and close.
2. Test the Main Machine Systems
During the factory test, pay attention to the extrusion system, clamping unit, hydraulic system, temperature control and operating interface.
The machine should complete its intended operating sequence smoothly. Buyers should also confirm that the PLC, safety devices and emergency stop function properly.
3. Confirm Wall Thickness and Product Consistency
One acceptable sample does not guarantee consistent production.
If the order requires specific wall-thickness control, ask how it is adjusted and verified. Systems such as MOOG 200-point parison control can help manage material distribution across different sections of a product.
Where practical, inspect samples from multiple production cycles rather than judging quality from a single piece.
4. Review the Agreed Specifications
Before signing off, compare the machine with the contract and technical proposal.
Confirm the required product capacity, mold dimensions, number of layers, control system, auxiliary equipment and other agreed options. If anything has changed during manufacturing, clarify it before shipment.
5. Check Documentation and Shipping Preparation
Acceptance is also a good time to confirm the operation manual, electrical documentation, maintenance guidance and the agreed spare parts.
For overseas buyers, clear documentation and remote technical support can make installation and commissioning much easier after delivery.
What We Focus on at SHANDONG GREAT MACHINERY
When preparing a blow molding machine for delivery, the goal should not be just to demonstrate that it can run. The important thing is to verify the agreed configuration and product requirements as far as practical before shipment.
At SHANDONG GREAT MACHINERY, we focus on large and customized blow molding solutions for water tanks, chemical containers, IBC inner bottles, plastic pallets and road barriers. Depending on the project, machine configuration and testing requirements are matched to the customer’s product and production goals.
Our advice is simple: confirm the requirements before testing, check the actual product during testing, and resolve outstanding questions before shipment.
A careful acceptance process helps both the buyer and the manufacturer start the next stage with clearer expectations.
